Who is Emily?

Emily Haozous, PhD, RN, FAAN lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is an advocate for Native American health and social justice. Dr. Haozous is the proud parent to two strong Apache sons and the partner to Dr. Alexander Evans, a forest ecologist and environmental steward. Dr. Haozous is a member of the Houser/Haozous artist family; the daughter of Bob Haozous and granddaughter of Allan Houser. Dr. Haozous is an enrolled member of the Chiricahua Fort Sill Apache Tribe.
Dr. Haozous received her BA from University of California, Santa Cruz, her MS from Yale School of Nursing, and her PhD in Nursing from Yale University.
Dr Haozous writes and speaks about cancer prevention, health equity, indigenous methodologies, and community engagement.
